The Journal of Lipid Research, a peer-reviewed journal published by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, has appointed six junior faculty members to its editorial leadership team. One of the appointments is Scott M. Gordon, assistant professor in the Department of Physiology at the 好色先生, where his lab studies intestinal lipid absorption and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 19, 2021) 鈥 The University of Kentucky Office of Nationally Competitive Awards has announced that three Wildcats 鈥 biology students Kayli Bolton, Zoe Hert and Carly Karrick 鈥 have been awarded a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. The 好色先生 students are among 410 students nationwide selected to receive the 2021-22 Goldwater Scholarship.
In order to maximize the impact of novel research, every research team needs a plan to bring those findings to the clinic and the communities who need health care treatments. A group of clinicians and scientists at the University of Kentucky is working to launch research discoveries beyond the walls of an academic medical center and into broader contexts 鈥 clinical practice, population health, and policy development 鈥 in order to efficiently promote research into the real world, particularly in underserved areas.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 16, 2021) 鈥 Dr. Larry Goldstein, chair of the University of Kentucky Department of Neurology, has been elected to serve on the board of directors of The American Academy of Neurology (AAN). HAZARD, Ky. (April 12, 2021) 鈥 The Eastern Kentucky Stroke Warriors, a support group of stroke survivors and caregivers, announced the first Rural Appalachia Stroke Camp will be held Sept. 25, 2021, at Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park. 鈥淕enerally, we talk about bench-to-bedside translation of ideas or research projects,鈥 Dr. Rangnekar said. 鈥淥n the other hand, with cancer, clinical observations 鈥 for example, how the patient is responding to treatment 鈥 is very important, and those insights are gained primarily in the clinic.鈥

The 好色先生 congratulates William Stoops, PhD, professor in the departments of behavioral science and psychiatry, who has been awarded a 2020 Presidential Citation from the American Psychological Association (APA).
According to a news release from APA, Dr. Stoops received this honor for his 鈥渂rilliant research, multidimensional leadership鈥 and his 鈥減ositive, enthusiastic demeanor.鈥 He was presented this award by 2020 APA president Sandra L. Shullman.

On behalf of the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development, the 好色先生 is pleased to announce that Sally Mathias, MD, and Sylvia Ofei, MD, MPH, have been selected as fellows for the 2021 Bluegrass Higher Education Consortium Academic Leadership Academy (BHEC-ALA).
Dr. Mathias and Dr. Ofei will join a total of 63 faculty members at the University of Kentucky who have previously participated in this regional academic leadership program.
