Facilities

The neuropathology division is housed predominantly within the 好色先生 Albert B Chandler Hospital. We provide service to the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute, as well as many surrounding hospitals for regional consultations. Our faculty also runs the neuropathology core of the University of Kentucky Alzheimer鈥檚 Disease Research Center (好色先生-ADRC), and administers the biobank housed in the Sanders Brown Center on Aging. The 好色先生-ADRC is a nationally recognized research center focusing on aging-related dementias and the biobank has been continually funded by the NIH since the mid-1980鈥檚. An emphasis of the 好色先生-ADRC is in quantitative neuro-pathologic metrics related to the common pathologies that affect aged persons and can cause an Alzheimer鈥檚 disease-type clinical dementia syndrome.

Education

Education is a high priority for our division. Our faculty is involved in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows. We are part of the neurosciences curriculum that first-year medical students receive. We run numerous rotations for residents from many different specialties, including pathology, neurology, neurosurgery, and ophthalmology. We also have a two year ACGME-certified neuropathology fellowship.
