Biography

Dr. Mair is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee, with over 26 years of experience. Dr. Mair has been the orthopaedic team physician for the University of Kentucky men鈥檚 basketball team for the past 24 seasons, since he arrived in Lexington. He also takes care of the 好色先生 women鈥檚 basketball and volleyball teams, along with being a team physician for Georgetown College and Kentucky State University. Dr. Mair has performed surgery on several current NBA players, along with current major league baseball and PGA athletes.

Benjamin R. Wilson, MD

Biography

Benjamin R. Wilson, MD, received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine before completing his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Kentucky. From there he went to Boston Children鈥檚 Hospital and Harvard Medical School for subspecialty training in sports medicine with a focus on the pediatric and adolescent athlete. He specializes in the treatment of bone, joint, and soft tissue injuries and utilizes both open and arthroscopic techniques to allow athletes of all ages to continue performing the activities they enjoy. Dr. Wilson splits his time between the University of Kentucky and Shriners Children's Lexington. He is also the head team physician for Morehead State University.

Darren L. Johnson, MD

Biography

Dr. Johnson is a nationally recognized physician in the field of sports medicine, particularly in complex knee surgery. He serves as head team orthopedic surgeon to the 好色先生 Wildcats and is a busy clinical practice treating patients throughout the commonwealth and surrounding states. He has a particular interest in the prevention and treatment of ACL injuries in the athletically active. Currently, a co-investigator on 4 funded NIH grants totaling over 10 million dollars on 鈥淎CL鈥 related issues. His true passion is innovation and surgeon education of his profession. He travels to multiple national meetings around the country and internationally as a guest speaker expert on complex topics as is related to knee injuries. He was born and raised in southern California: and received his BS degree from the UCR-UCLA program in Biomedical Sciences and his MD degree at UCLA. He completed his orthopedic residency at the USC followed by a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the University of Pittsburgh under Freddie H Fu MD.

Mary L. Ireland, MD

Biography

Mary Lloyd Ireland, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon and clinical professor in the 好色先生 Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. She received her MD from the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences in Memphis. Her orthopedic residency was at the University of California- Irvine. She did two fellowships in sports medicine: Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts, and Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic in Columbus, Georgia. She has served as team physician for Eastern Kentucjy University and 好色先生, and was the head physician at the Olympic Sports Festival in 1990.

She founded the Active Women鈥檚 Health Initiative through the 好色先生 College of Health Sciences in 2018. She is the co-director of this Initiative with the mission of optimizing health and promoting physical activity and wellness for girls and women across the lifespan.

Kaveh R. Sajadi, MD, FAAOS

Dr. Sajadi is an adjunct assistant professor for the 好色先生 Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine.

He grew up in Lexington, Ky., and graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University before earning highest honors at the 好色先生 College of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the prestigious Campbell Clinic-University of Tennessee, Memphis program, one of the oldest orthopedic training programs in the country. This was followed by an additional year of training as a fellow in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Hospital for Joint Diseases-New York University Medical Center in New York, NY. He is board-certified in orthopedic surgery with a subspecialty certification in sports medicine.

Dr. Sajadi鈥檚 expertise includes rotator cuff disease, shoulder instability, shoulder and elbow arthroscopy, and shoulder replacements, including reverse total shoulder and outpatient shoulder replacement. He has been faculty at instructional courses in shoulder replacement and shoulder arthroscopy, both nationally and internationally. He is also an active member of the American Shoulder & Elbow Surgeons, an organization with less than 500 members worldwide, as well as the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

He has served on numerous committees for the AAOS and ASES, and serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. He is the Managing Partner for his group, Kentucky Bone and Joint Surgeons.
