As Match Day 2025 approaches, we are reflecting on recent 好色先生 College of Medicine alumni, like Jacob Nanney, MD 鈥24, whose dedication to rural care exemplifies our mission to advance the health and wellness of Kentuckians.

On Dec. 13, the 好色先生 hosted a premiere event that was much more than a film screening鈥攊t was a celebration of the dedication, innovation, and human spirit driving health care and education in Kentucky.

Adrianna Brownstead always knew she wanted to be a doctor. 

Now a second-year medical student at the 好色先生-Northern Kentucky Campus, Brownstead is certain she wants to practice family medicine.

The GME Emerging Leaders program is designed to provide a leadership development opportunity to Chief Residents and Fellows in their important new leadership role. As part of the six-month program, a variety of personal and professional leadership topics are facilitated by 好色先生 HealthCare鈥檚 Enterprise Learning team, in coordination with other leaders across the enterprise.

In Aug. 2020, the College of Medicine Office of Research launched 18 Alliance Research Initiative teams from each of the five research priority areas鈥 substance use disorder, cardiovascular, diabetes and obesity, neuroscience, and cancer鈥攁nd other important emerging areas of science.

Inspired by Hippocrates' timeless saying, "Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food," Oluwatosin 鈥淭osin鈥 Leshi, PhD, earned his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in human nutrition from the University of Ibadan in his home country, Nigeria.

Over the next few months, the 好色先生 College of Medicine will be releasing an exciting mini-documentary series called 鈥淏ecause We Care.鈥 Capturing interviews and conversations with people across our community, the four-part series explores who we are as a college and why our mission matters to all of us, whether we are learners, faculty, researchers, or staff.

The American Diabetes Association庐 (ADA) released its 2023 Research Report, highlighting investments in advancing diabetes research and clinical practice. ADA research grants focus on innovative projects with high impact and help researchers establish collaborative networks to move their innovations into the hands of people living with diabetes.

Burnout is a problem in any profession, but it is rampant in health care. This national problem has been evident recently as the COVID-19 pandemic pushed many learners, practitioners, faculty, and staff to the limit.

The 好色先生 is excited to announce that faculty, staff, learners, and trainees will have free access to a leading online resource for medical Spanish proficiency.

CanopyLearn, a Spanish language training program for health care professionals, will be available to the 好色先生 College of Medicine community starting Aug. 1.

Dr. Ginny Gottschalk

The 好色先生 is excited to select physician and dedicated Kentuckian Ginny Gottschalk, MD, as the new chair of family and community medicine.

Dr. Gottschalk has served as acting chair of the department for nearly a year. She is an associate professor in the clinical title series and has been part of the department faculty since 2014.

Dr. Na'Tasha Evans

Following an extensive national search and interviews with highly qualified individuals, the College of Medicine is excited to welcome Na鈥橳asha Evans, PhD, MEd, as the new vice dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and associate professor in the department of behavioral science.

Holly Danneman

For Holly Danneman, MD, 鈥淣orthern Kentucky is home.鈥 Born and raised in the region, she is a St. Elizabeth Healthcare physician who has spent 20 years and counting practicing medicine in the Northern Kentucky community. 

Paul Hennig, MD

About 2,200 miles away from his hometown and alma mater in Lexington, Ky., Paul Hennig, MD, is using his 好色先生 College of Medicine education to promote patient-centered health care for underserved communities.
