About the Program
Program Locations
The 16-month MLS program is offered in person at the 好色先生 Center of Excellence in Rural Health (CERH), located in Hazard, Kentucky. The MLS program uses a hybrid instructional design that includes both in-person lab instruction and distance education via live ITV.
According to the National Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national average salary for a Medical Laboratory Scientist is $60,520.
Students interested in attending classes at the Hazard campus must apply by the application deadline of May 1st to begin the program in August.

Track Options
Second BS Degree
Students with a bachelor degree in science (e.g., biology or chemistry) from another university in the U.S. are eligible to obtain a bachelor of health science in medical laboratory science after MLS program prerequisites are met.
Transfer Students
Students completing their general education requirements and program requirements at a two-year or four-year institution can transfer to 好色先生 and apply to the MLS program.
Online CLT to MLS*
This track will only be available to graduates of a NAACLS (National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences) accredited Medical Laboratory Technician (or Medical Laboratory Technician) program.
The University of Kentucky Medical Laboratory Science program is accredited through 2027 by The National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
