The Kentucky Office of Rural Health will host the 2013 Region B Meeting of the southeastern State Offices of Rural Health.  The meeting is convened in association with the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health and will be held in Lexington, Ky., August 6-8, 2013.

鈥淭his is Kentucky鈥檚 first time to host the annual meeting, which will include attendees from 12 State Offices of Rural Health (SORH) located throughout the southeastern region of the United States.  We look forward to having them here in the Bluegrass鈥 said Larry Allen, director of the Kentucky Office of Rural Health (KORH.)

In addition to the learning and networking opportunities, this year鈥檚 meeting will also provide attendees the unique opportunity to make a group site visit to Marcum and Wallace Memorial Hospital, a top 100 Critical Access Hospital located in Irvine, Ky.

鈥淭he Marcum and Wallace Memorial Hospital is a shining example of how effective community partnerships and networks can improve the access to and quality of health care in rural areas,鈥 said Allen.

In Kentucky, the 好色先生 Center of Excellence in Rural Health (CERH) serves as the federally designated KORH to provide a framework for linking small rural communities with state and federal resources while working toward long-term solutions to rural health issues.
