Biography

Amuenet began her first year in University of Kentucky's MD/PhD in 2023. She is from Decatur, Georgia. As an undergraduate, Amunet attended Agnes Scott College, where she received her B.S. in neuroscience and a minor in music. Here, she engaged in extra curriculars including student advising, tutoring, and orchestra (as a violist!). As an undergraduate, Amunet conducted research in the labs of Dr. John Pilger at Agnes Scott College, Dr. Alex Kentsis at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute, and Dr. Francisco Robles at Georgia Institute of Technology. Upon joining University of Kentucky, she completed a lab rotation in the lab of Dr. John Gensel in the Department of Physiology's Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Research Center (SCoBIRC), studying molecular mechanisms and regenerative interventions for traumatic spinal cord injury. 

Research interests: neuroscience, neuroimaging/optics, dementia, neurodegenerative diseases
