Recruiting and retaining outstanding faculty is an integral part of the mission of the University of Kentucky鈥檚 Research Challenge Trust Fund, and each year the University highlights four outstanding endowed chairs and professors. This year鈥檚 annual report, approved by the 好色先生 Board of Trustees Feb. 19, featured Catherine A. Martin, Dr. Laurie L. Humphries Chair in Child Psychiatry.

Dr. Ruhel Boparai, resident in the University of Kentucky's Department of Psychiatry, is a contributing author on one of the chapters in "Treatment of Neurodevelopmental Disorders: Targeting Neurobiological Mechanisms."
The book brings advances in genetics, neurobiology, and psychopharmacology to the clinic to enhance treatment for neurodevelopmental disorders.

The and Office of Student Involvement honored students and staff. Dr. Todd Cheever was named Student Organization Advisor of the Year. Three outstanding members of our community received the Robert and Freda Carlin Unsung Hero Award presented by Student Affairs. The awardees were Karen Doyle, Robert Cardom and Elena Shulgina. The award honors quiet leaders without whose contributions 好色先生 would not be the institution that it is today.

Dr. Otto Kaak, associate director of the University of Kentucky鈥檚 Center on Trauma and Children, will be featured in KET鈥檚 new Health Special Report Safe and Sound: Raising Emotionally Healthy Children in a Stressful World, premiering at 9 p.m., Monday, April 21, on KET.

The University of Kentucky's Center for Research on Violence Against Women is under new leadership, and its new director says the center will focus its efforts to promote violence prevention research.
Diane R. Follingstad, the center's Women鈥檚 Circle Endowed Chair and a professor in the 好色先生 Department of Psychiatry with a joint appointment in the Department of Psychology, took on the role of executive director April 1, pending confirmation of her appointment by the university's Board of Trustees. A clinical and forensic psychologist specializing in partner abuse and battered women鈥檚 legal cases, Follingstad has been with the center since 2008.
