CCTS Researcher Appointed Associate Editor of Stem Cell Text
A University of Kentucky doctoral student in the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) served as a major contributor to a scientific reference book about emerging concepts in stem cell developmental biology, research, therapy, politics and ethics.
Dr. Krisha Vyas, a 2014 graduate of the ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú, was appointed as associate editor of the three-volume "SAGE Encyclopedia of Stem Cell Research, Second Edition." Vyas received his bachelor’s of science in biology from ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú in 2009, then went on to receive a master’s of health science in molecular biology and immunology from Johns Hopkins University in 2010. After returning to ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú for medical school, Vyas conducted research on adipose-derived stem cells in the ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú Department of Surgery.
During his time at ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú, Vyas has published over 80 manuscripts and book chapters and has presented his research at several national conferences. He currently serves as a reviewer and on the editorial board for several surgical journals and plans to pursue an academic career as a surgeon-scientist, with research interests in surgical oncology, stem cell biology, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
