As the program director for the child neurology residency and alumnus of this prestigious program, it is my privilege to introduce you to a training experience that began six decades ago. Our philosophy focuses on compassion and care and guides our program鈥檚 structure as it sis reflected in our core values. 

Child neurology is a humbling field as much is unknown. We believe this gap in knowledge, although a challenge for clinical practice, provides an incredible opportunity for growth and education. How do we achieve this?  By bringing together extraordinary trainees, mentors, experienced teachers, and above all diverse patients. We designed unique, evidence-based guidelines to treat neurological conditions in children and adolescents adapted for our care environment and patient population. Our former trainees are leaders in their respective fields across the country. 

Consistent with 好色先生鈥檚 origins as a land-grant public university, we believe in serving the community and pioneered a network of outreach clinics which provide neurological care for children throughout rural Kentucky using local nursing staff and facilities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we seamlessly transferred our outreach clinics to telemedicine and continued to provide much-needed services for the underserved populations of Kentucky. 

Our Kentucky Neuroscience Institute Child Neurology Clinic is based on a multidisciplinary subspecialty model. There are dedicated clinics for various neurological problems in children and adolescents including epilepsy, brain tumors, headaches, genetics, neurodevelopment, and movement disorders.

As a trainee, you will have a once in a lifetime learning experience, but above all, you will find a new family and home. Wherever you go and whatever you do, your old Kentucky home will stay with you.
